The cost of a testicular sperm extraction procedure under local anesthesia is

$1,000.00

The IVF lab has an additional charge for the cryopreservation and storage of the extracted sperm.  This charge varies with each IVF group.

The key with sperm extractions are to both keep the man as comfortable as possible and to keep costs low (IVF is expensive enough without a huge bill for the extraction!).  By performing the procedure in an office setting under local anesthesia, the charges can be kept low.  In rare circumstances, a man is 'more sensitive than usual' in the scrotal area and performing the procedure under IV sedation is indicated.  This occurs in 5% or less of men and this 'increased sensitivity' is identified at the time of office consultation prior to the procedure.  If IV sedation is needed, an extra charge for anesthesia services is necessary- this is usually in the $600-1000 range, depending on location.
